The idea of restoring the premises in the city of Pripyat arose a long time ago. We, like many people visiting the ChEZ, were interested in visiting the city buildings in the first months after the Chernobyl accident and seeing how the time in the Soviet city really froze. What city institutions, kindergartens, schools and apartments look like. Repair in the kindergarten of Pripyat was finally succeeded. We had to carry paint, brushes, rollers, decor in our backpacks, we walked 45 kilometers with heavy backpacks.

In the first months after the evacuation of residents, the city was carefully guarded, but alas, it did not last long, and a year after it left, monstrous looting began under the guise of good goals, that is, supposedly the burial of things of Pripyat citizens to prevent looting.
Why did we make repairs in the kindergarten of Pripyat?
But how interesting it would be to see an untouched city, a real museum of the USSR. That is why I want to carry out this restoration. Now the city does not have the status of a museum, and sometimes a group of people illegally gets here to show their ignorance, come off and let off steam, damaging buildings, destroying historically valuable artifacts.
Our project is not a simple “repair in an apartment”, we have just a restoration project, we don’t bring anything from ourselves for the place to be restored!
From what has been done: the historical color of the walls, the historical color of window frames and furniture were updated, garbage was removed from the premises, surviving artifacts were washed from dust and dirt. Before the restoration, as in all buildings of the city, one can now see complete chaos left by looters and vandals in the 90s of the last century.
Many stalkers and tourists dream of seeing an abandoned Soviet city, because here, like nowhere else, the atmosphere of the USSR has been well preserved, many things remind of a whole bygone era. Now in Pripyat and in many buildings of the Chernobyl zone one can see Soviet posters, slogans, attributes of propaganda, this city was considered a communist paradise.
We restored the premises of a kindergarten abandoned 34 years ago in the city of Pripyat with the aim of restoring the atmosphere of 1986, when the time in the houses of the city really froze, and life in the city was still in full swing quite recently. The kindergarten building was chosen, as Pripyat was a city of children, which were inhabited by about 14,000, and the average age of the inhabitants was 26 years.
But unfortunately the city was not saved as a museum, all the buildings in the city that were abandoned were gradually destroyed, leaked, looted by looters, mutilated by vandals, frozen and leaked due to open and broken windows.
Unfortunately, the terrible accident at the nuclear power plant forced people to leave the city forever. Today in Pripyat kindergartens there are still many Reminders of the past. We tried to return to one room the time when the city was still alive and did not succumb to the raids of vandals and looters who caused terrible unrest in Pripyat.
All this brings only sadness when visiting. We have little strength, few people who are really in love with this city, but we will try to restore at least a tiny place in this forgotten but very dear to us city.
