Currently, due to the high degree of risk in the event of the destruction of the old sarcophagus over it, another dome was built, called “Shelter-2”. The new facility is a steel structure 108 m high and 150 m long, beneath which is an old sarcophagus and auxiliary structures. On November 29, 2016, the Shelter-2 facility was put into operation.
